For Ignite Waterloo 5 we’ve got ourselves a snazzy new venue at the Communitech Hub, and very generous hosting by new Hub residents: Google! (If anyone appreciates innovative geek culture, we’re pretty sure they do…) We think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship, and we have our fingers crossed that we’ll manage to get some Googlers on our speakers list.

But Google isn’t the only generous bunch from the Hub who’ve stepped up. Communitech itself has been very generous, and we really appreciate their ongoing support. They’ve been great champions of Ignite Waterloo since the beginning.

Bingemans, who handle the catering and events and such at the Hub, are on board as sponsors for this event, and have been great to work with figuring out all the little details that make things run smoothly, from what to serve to how to set up the seating. We really appreciate having them involved, and will appreciate them even more on February 8th when we all have a fantastic time!

Schlueter Automotive Group is another sponsor of ours that’s been part of Ignite since the beginning, and has been incredibly helpful on a variety of fronts. We’re even hoping to get a presentation out of them one of these days. It feels great to have so much consistent support from local businesses.

And, once again, the amazing Philip Bast is taking care of video for the event so that the presentations will be online and viewable to all. (I mean, really, what mother wouldn’t be proud as punch that the entire internets can see her daughter talk about killing zombies…) Philip has been on board with us since the beginning, too, and we don’t know what we’d do without him.

Niche Decals have come aboard as a new sponsor, and will be supplying some very cool signage so everyone knows where they’re going for the event. Hurray for all that glass at the Hub!

We’ve had several very generous event attendees purchase sponsorship tickets as well, and we appreciate them immensely (and have thanked them in private). We should probably offer them reserved seating or something…

February 8th is coming up fast, and is going to be a great night. Can’t wait to see you there, and if you see any of our hosting or sponsoring folks about, do be sure to thank them!

Well, it took us a while to finalize the details, but we finally nailed down the date for our next event. Ignite Waterloo 5 is on Tuesday, February 8, with doors opening at 6:00pm. We’re particularly excited about this event as it falls in Global Ignite Week, during which Ignite events will be staged around the world.

We’ve been fortunate to hold our previous events in some fine venues in Kitchener. The Museum and the Conrad Centre for the Performing Arts were both home to some great Ignite Waterloo events.

We’re very happy that Google will be hosting this Ignite Waterloo event at their new home in the Tannery in Kitchener. More specifically, it will be held in the ground floor event space — use the entrance beside Balzac’s Coffee. There’s parking off Charles Street. It’s a great space, and should make for a wonderful event.

Tickets are available now and, as with previous events, are likely to go fast. Register now and avoid the disapointment of not getting tickets. As with our November 2010 event, tickets are $5 per person.
