Plans progressing for our first event

Planning is well underway for the first Ignite Waterloo event on November 25. Here’s an overview of how things might unfold. Keep in mind that this is a work in progress.
- 6:00pm Doors open
- 6:45pm Ignite contest begins (I’m reliably informed that it involves the decoration of cupcakes)
- 8:00pm Ignite talks (round 1, 8 speakers)
- 8:45pm Intermission (chat, get refreshed, etc.)
- 9:00pm Ignite talks (round 2, 8 speakers)
- 10:00pm Announce contest winners, wrap up
- 11:00pm No, really! We’re done now!
Here is a sneak-peak at the speaker lineup for our November 25th event. We’ll have 16 speakers that night; we’ll reveal more soon.

Organizing meeting on Monday

We’re having an organizing meeting at 8:00pm on Monday September 14 (yes, this is short notice!). The meeting is at William’s Coffee Pub in the University Plaza next to University of Waterloo. If you have any interest at all, please do come out and meet the growing group of volunteers, and join in to help make the first Ignite event a great one.

The organizational group has been busy in the last few days – we have selected the date for our first Ignite Waterloo event (Nov 25, 2009) and we’re still finalizing the location. We’re hoping to have the venue booked and signed for by the end of September, but as soon as we have a venue booked, we’ll post it here.
Also, we have 3 of our 16 speakers booked, and once we have an initial list confirmed, we’ll post it to the site here.
In the mean time, if you’re interested in helping us organize, then please join our Google Group, and if you’re interested in speaking, then please fill our a speaker application, and finally if you just want to know what’s going on, click the Subscribe link at the top of this page to subscribe to updates, or follow us on Twitter at @ignitewaterloo.
