Don’t be shy, give a talk at Ignite Waterloo
Posted by Mark Connolly in Speakers' Workshop, Upcoming Events on January 18, 2012
We’ll be announcing the date and other details for our February event very shortly. We’re pretty excited about the great location that we have lined up.
Meanwhile, we’re looking for speakers!
Who can give an Ignite talk? Anyone can! We’ve had an eclectic range of talks over the last two years, and we’ve been thrilled that so many people have been eager to speak. If you haven’t given a talk and want to give it a try, have a look at the details on what we’re looking for, and then apply right now to give a talk! If you’ve applied in the past but haven’t yet given a talk, don’t give up! Apply again to let us know that you’re still interested.
Another speakers workshop
We’re having another speakers workshop! This one is at 7:00pm on Thursday January 26, 2012. As with our most recent workshop, it’s in the boardroom at Barley Works in the Huether Hotel, located at 59 King Street North in Waterloo. Just ask the great staff there to help you find the room if you’re unsure.
Come on out and share your passion!
Hey! Give an Ignite talk at our eighth event in February!

Ignite Waterloo 8 is coming in February, 2012. We’re well into planning our next event, and hope to announce details on the date and location soon. Of course, if there’s an Ignite event coming, that means that we’re looking for people who are passionate about a topic and who want to share their passion through an Ignite talk.

A speakers workshop
Still not sure? Try attending our next speaker workshop, where you’ll hear about what goes into preparing and delivering an Ignite talk, and learn from people who have given talks in the past about what it’s like. Our next speaker workshop is at 7:00pm on Monday January 9, 2012. As with previous workshops, it’s in the boardroom at Barley Works in the Huether Hotel, located at 59 King Street North in Waterloo. Just ask the great staff there to help you find the room if you’re unsure.
Great talks are a big part of what make Ignite Waterloo events such successful affairs. Come on out and share your passion.
Ignite 7 needs you!
Posted by terre in Apply to Speak, Speakers' Workshop, Upcoming Events on August 30, 2011
Ignite 7 is well on its way to being finalised. The fabulous people who band together to bring you this event are closing in on a date and place as you read this very blog, which is the best news for all of us. We have also settled on dates for speaker workshops. What we are really looking for now are one of the things that make Ignite fly: Speakers.
Everyone has a story. Everyone has either thought or done one thing or another that is pretty darn unique. What is the best? When these people who have these stories come and regale us with them. The most important part, which is true of all geek culture, is that the speaker be speaking passionately about the things that make them passionate!
There really is only one thing left to do here. At this moment, muster all the best parts of your clicking sensibilities and check out this link: Be a Speaker. If you already know you want to speak, you are settled on which one of your many passions you are going to share, go right to the application form. The speaker workshops will be on Tuesday September 6th at 7pm in the Heuther Hotel Boardroom, and Wednesday October 5th at 7pm, also in the Heuther Hotel Boardroom which can be found upstairs at the Barley Works. It is the room with the glass wall. If you can’t find it, the very helpful staff would happily point you in the right direction.
