Sometimes, the Ignite Waterloo gears turn slowly!

Our November event was documented on video, as all previous events have been, by Philip Bast. Philip delivered the videos in quite a timely way, and it just took our team a while to get them annotated and added to our YouTube account the Ignite Waterloo video area over at igniteshow.com.

The wait was worth it, though, since we had another evening of fine talks, all of which are available in beautiful high definition video. And what better way to prepare for our upcoming Ignite Waterloo 5 (details to be released very shortly), than to relive the magic of our November event, or any of the first three events as well?

Thanks, again, to Philip Bast for his ongoing support of Ignite Waterloo.

Thanks to Philip Bast for Ignite Waterloo videos

We’ve written recently about the support that Ignite Waterloo get from our sponsors.

Philip Bast is someone who has supported Ignite Waterloo from the start, recording our events and sharing his excellent videos of each and every Ignite talk. As a result of his efforts, all the talks from our first three events are available at our YouTube channel igniteshow.com, where future events will also be documented.

Philip is interested in more than just Ignite Waterloo, though. He’s a tireless documenter of cultural life in Waterloo Region and beyond, and his YouTube channel is well-worth checking out. As the bio that he shared with us puts it:

Since retiring as Arts Editor for the Waterloo Region Record in 2006 he has been producing weekly webcasts and television reports on the arts scene and has a global outreach through his YouTube channel featuring performing arts in the 519 heart of Southwestern Ontario.

He also produces documentary and archival video for business and cultural agencies. As a print journalist, he has been a frequent feature writer on the arts scene for Grand magazine and Guelph Life magazine.

Amazing stuff. Thanks Philip, for all your past and ongoing support.

Videos from our first event now available

Thanks to Philip Bast, we now have a video record of the 16 talks given at our first IgniteWaterloo event. Have a look at our spiffy new Vimeo site and dig into the videos. The talks are every bit as engaging and edifying on video as they were that night at the Children’s museum. And get this — the videos are collected together into an album!

“Enlighten us … but do it quickly”

Videographer Philip Bast was on hand for Ignite Waterloo’s inaugural event. Graciously donating his time, Philip captured the evenings presentations and is working on compiling them for us. Here’s the first of his video snapshots, also featured on The Record.com Video Reports under Geek Culture.
